The seminar is part of TAG-KF’s efforts in supporting the Program’s activities conducted in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign organized every October to raise awareness on the importance of early detection.

In his speech, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), underlined the important role HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, plays in increasing the awareness of early detection and treatment of the disease in Jordan and the Middle East through her chairmanship of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation which is considered an advanced healthcare landmark at a global level.

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined his personal interest in raising awareness on the importance of early detection which is considered the best means of protection and prevention since it contributes to treating the disease at early stages and thus save the patients and the national economy enormous amount of treatnment money.

For his part, Mr. Fadi Daoud, Executive Director of TAG-KF, expressed the Forum’s pride in hosting the awareness gathering noting that the TAG-KF’s main mission is to spread awareness regarding national, community, economic and health issues, adding that the Forum posts various awareness messages through TAG.Global’s pages on social networks.

It is worth mentioning that JBCP has recently launched the 4th Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign under the theme ‘Don’t Forget the Signs, Go Check’

For her part, Ms. Reem Al-Ajlouni, Director of JBCP, briefed the meeting about the Program which was established as a nation-wide program led and supported by KHCF, the Center and Ministry of Health in 2007.

Al-Ajlouni pointed out that the Program’s main objectives include: Reducing morbidity and mortality; and, Shifting the current state of diagnosis of breast cancer from its late stages (III- IV), to its earlier stages (0-II) where the disease is most curable, survival rates are highest, and treatments costs are lowest.

She also noted that more than 1000 women are being diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Jordan, stating that many cases have been detected at advanced stages of the disease, whereby survival rates are low and treatment costs are much higher.

Al-Ajlouni highly praised TAG-KF’s support in hosting the awareness seminar affirming that such kind of gatherings increases community awareness and sheds light on the importance of early detection as a main key for prevention and treatment.

At the end of the session, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh presented honorary shields to the speakers, including Dr. Yassar Qutaiba, Director of the Early Detection at King Hussein Cancer Center and Dr. Suha Ghoul, consultant and diagnostic radiology instructor at the Center’s Department of Radiology, for their role and efforts in organizing and taking part in awareness and education seminars in the country.
